10. Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Who doesn’t love rescuing their neighbors from a zombie apocalypse? That’s exactly what you’ll do in the classic game from the 16-bit era. This is no easy game, but it’s an absolute classic.
9. DayZ
The survival genre blew up, and a huge part of that was due to the success ofDayZ.
Between the overwhelming hordes of zombies and the other players,DayZis a fantastic zombie video game that gives us a taste of what living in a zombie apocalypse might be like.
8. Dead Rising
All of theDead Risinggames are good, but for me, the only one that falls in the top 10 is the original. The timed mechanic added a fun element to the game that future iterations lost.
There’s just something so fun about running around a mall using all of the tools at your disposal to slaughter hordes of the living dead.
7. Left 4 Dead 2
If you’re into working with other survivors to take down zombies, theLeft 4 Deadseries is perfect for you.
Personally, I prefer the second game because it makes some quality of life changes and introduces some new zombie types that expand the already awesome gameplay.
You can’t go wrong with eitherLeft 4 Deadgames, and we can only hope that Valve decides to make a third someday.
6. Dead Space
Generally, zombie games tend to be all about surviving an end-of-the-world scenario on our home planet.
Dead Spaceflips that notion on its head, having players attempt to survive zombies (and other monsters) aboard an abandoned space ship.
It might be one of the scariest zombie games out there, so if you’re looking to feel some real horror, this is the game for you.
5. Dying Light
Dying Lightisn’t a zombie game where you feel weak while trying to survive. Rather, you’re a parkouring badass who can move around the world freely while slaying zombies.
That is, until nighttime when the world becomes filled with powerful zombies that’ll murder you in seconds.
4. Resident Evil 4
TheResident Evilgames have always been great, but it’s withResident Evil 4that franchise evolved away from the infamous tank controls.
So not only doesResident Evil 4control infinitely better than its predecessors, but the story is fantastic and the tension is off-the-charts. It’s just a great game, zombies or otherwise.

3. The Walking Dead
The Walking Deadis the game that brought point-and-click adventures back to the mainstream. The story-based game really brings forth the tension and fear we’d experience during a zombie uprising.
The attachment you feel for the characters is among the deepest you’ll find in any video game, so when something bad happens, it really hurts.
2. The Last of Us
TheLast of Usis an absolute masterpiece. The story is intense, the horror is on point, and the enemies are unlike any other zombies in gaming.
You could argue thatThe Last of Usis one of the best games of the current console generation, which is no small feat when you consider how many amazing games have hit store shelves.
1. Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 2wouldn’t have been my favorite zombie game just a few months ago. However, Capcom remade the game and absolutely nailed all aspects.
It maintained the fear and tension, but it improved the controls, visuals, and everything else about the game. It’s a masterclass in zombie horror, and it’s a game all zombie fans need to play.
