1. Volunteer as Event Staff Volunteering at a convention doesn’t have to be stressful. You’ll get to see the inner workings of a convention’s operations. You’ll make new friends and acquaintances. You’ll get to see people’s wacky cosplays. But most importantly, you’ll be able to save cash! While volunteer work isn’t technically paid work, most conventions do provide free admission in exchange for volunteering your time. Depending on how many hours you work, you may be able to receive a pass for the entire convention—or maybe just one day....

1. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) The ending toE.T.that we all know has Elliot saying a tearful final farewell to the alien, who then flies off in his spaceship. But there was an alternate ending that ended the film on a more cheerful note. This deleted scene was meant to be tacked onafterthe ending we are all familiar with. It shows Elliot at the helm of aDungeons and Dragonsgame. The camera pans up to the roof of the house where the communicator is still functioning, hinting that Elliot can still communicate with E....

9.Eureka(2006–2012) The Syfy Channel (formerly known as the Sci-Fi channel) isn’t exactly known for the quality of its original content, but some of its original series are surprising gems. My favorite of those isEureka, which follows the sheriff of a small town where most of the residents happen to be geniuses who work at a facility that frequently puts the town in danger. This isn’t mind-blowing stuff, but if you’re looking for something to watch to let your brain take it easy, you can do a lot worse....

9.Atari: Game Over(2014) Maybe you’ve heard the story aboutE.T. Not the movie. The video game! Which was famously so bad that thousands of copies were buried in the desert in New Mexico. The filmmakers behindAtari: Game Overset out to see if these cartridges were in fact there, and made a movie about their quest. This quickly became a geek gathering, with fans swarming the landfill on the day of the dig....

9.Night of the Living Dead(1968) It’s the reason modern zombie movies exist. You can either look at this as a blessing or a curse, but George A. Romero’s classic satirical horror film can’t be overlooked. If you’re a horror fan and have never seen this one, fix that immediately.
