The film is a refreshing take on the Western genre, with a few stray bullets here and there. However, the film’s primary focus is on Kidd’s relationship with Johanna as they endure their journey. Hanks brings his usual assured quality to proceedings, as does Paul Greengrass, yet it’s young Helena Zengel who’s the star of the movie, bringing Johanna across with a maturity beyond her years....
