On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous Vietnamese-American poet Ocean Vuong wrote his debut novel in the form of a letter: the character of Little Dog (a semi-autobiographical Vuong) writes to his illiterate mother Rose and uncovers a deep family history in the process. Stemming right back to the Vietnam War, Vuong explores themes of race, class, national identity, and masculinity with graceful urgency. These topics are just as relevant now as they were in its 1960s, a setting which Vuong traverses with permanent beauty....

15. Breathing Room (2008) The plot of this movie is actually quite similar toSaw(more on that later). WhileBreathing Roomisn’t super highly-reviewed, the plot is interesting enough to appeal to escape room fans: it’s about a deadly game where participants need to escape their fate by solving puzzles. As members of the room die, new clues emerge that make for a pretty interesting movie as long as you can look past its flaws....

Rugrats in Paris (2000) The Rugrats are always on vacation mode in their movies, but their trip to Paris inRugrats in Parisstands out as the best, which focuses more on the cowardly Chuckie than anything else. When the entire family goes on a last-minute trip to the City of Lights, Chuckie sees it as an opportunity to find a mom. While younger audiences will be delighted by the outrageous hijinks and potty humor, there’s ample amounts of heart in Chuckie’s arc....
